The application period for OP Pohjola’s 2027 Kiitorata Trainee Program is now open! We are looking for 39 open-minded and courageous talents for diverse, challenging, and skill-enhancing roles in various business areas.
Interested in AI, and solving real business challenges and driving AI transformation in the financial industry? We are now strengthening OP Pohjola’s AI Tribe with an AI Engineer Trainee!
As an AI Engineer Trainee in the AI Tribe, you will be involving and contibuting to OP Pohjola’s shared AI capabilities and business initiatives using AI capabilities. AI Tribe drives OP Pohjola’s AI first transformation by building and implementing shared platforms and capabilities with primarily Microsoft Foundry, owning AI governance, strengthening AI skills and modern ways of working to deliver measurable value and impact at scale.
Examples of project could include, for example, adaptive AI orchestration, adaptive guardrails and agentic vulnerability remediation, or something else. The scope of the trainee role will be tailored to the selected candidate’s profile and areas of interest.
Does this sound like you?
We hope you have previous experience in developing AI-based solutions or data analytics using the Python stack in a cloud environment, such as Azure. In addition, an understanding of software development skills, and experience working in agile teams are considered an advantage.
We value proactivity and flexible approach to problem-solving whilst understanding and appreciating financial industry regulation and guidelines. Above all, we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, curious, and eager to learn new things.
We expect you to have strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in English. Finnish language skills are considered an advantage.
You hold a Master's degree or are in the final stages of your studies in computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, or another relevant field.

Your line organization will be Data Scientist Competence Area through which you will be able to connect to other AI Engineers and Data Scientists across OP Pohjola. You will also work together with other roles in your functional organization in AI Tribe.

Here's how our application process works:

- Please submit your application documents via the Apply Now button and additionally respond to our video interview questions through this link. Please note that progressing to the next stage requires both submitting your application documents through our application portal and providing video responses to our questions.
- We will contact all applicants regarding further steps by Tuesday, November 10, 2026. Those selected for personal interviews will be contacted by phone to arrange an interview date, and those not selected will be informed via email.
- We will interview and announce selection decisions to the finalist candidates by December 18, 2026. As part of the selection process, all finalist candidates will undergo personality assessments.
- The employment contract will be for the period from March 1 to August 31, 2027.
We operate in the financial sector and our business is founded on trust and accountability. For this reason, we will check the successful candidate's credit history, corporate connections and potential conflicts of interest. In addition, the successful candidate must take a drug test and will be subject to a security clearance vetting by the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service.
